Questions

Do you store my texts?

No. Your text is only used to draw the image and the notebook and is gone right after. We don't log it either. For your account we keep a username, a hash of your password, your settings and how many texts Penvy wrote for you. No email.

Which iPads work with Pencil squeeze?

Squeezing needs an Apple Pencil Pro, which works with iPad Pro (M4 or newer), iPad Air (M2 or newer) and iPad mini (A17 Pro). On any other iPad, and on iPhone, you start Penvy from Control Center, a floating button, your Home Screen, the share menu or Siri. Set up asks which one you want.

Which apps can I paste into?

Anything that takes a pasted image: Goodnotes, Notability, Apple Notes, Freeform, OneNote, Samsung Notes and more. The background is transparent, so it sits on any paper template. Goodnotes and Notability can also get your text as a PDF page or as editable ink. You choose under My preferences.

Can I erase the handwriting in Goodnotes or Notability?

Yes, with editable ink. Every letter is a real pen stroke, so you can erase, lasso, move and recolor it. Your shortcut can deliver every text that way: choose Editable ink under My preferences. Here on the website, download it below your image and import it: in Goodnotes with Documents, then New, then Import; for Notability open the file from the Files app. To put it into a notebook you already have, lasso the text, copy it and paste it there.

Does every letter look the same?

No. Each letter gets its own small changes in angle, size, spacing and shape, and repeated letters use different forms. Press "New variation" for a fresh take on the same text.

How long can my text be?

Up to 6,000 characters. About 25 to 30 lines fill an A4 page, so longer texts work best in parts.

Why do I need an account?

You can try short texts here without one. An account remembers your handwriting, ink and notes app, connects your shortcut, writes your images at full size, and keeps the service from being abused. It's free, within a daily limit that's full again every 24 hours.
